The Telstar BiOptima series of Class II Biological Safety Cabinets ensures a high level of protection for the operator, product and environment, minimizing hazards inherent to working with biosafety levels 1, 2 and 3 agents.
This series has been designed according to the highest standards of quality and biological safety, reliability, ergonomics and usability. Furthermore it meets the latest customer requirements such as low energy consumption and low sound levels.
BiOptima is available in 4 sizes (90, 120, 150 and 180 cm width) and in two versions. The Cyto version is dedicated to applications involving the handling of cytotoxics and includes an additional set of HEPA H14 filters placed under the working surface in accordance to the DIN12980 norm.
Energy efficiency is a key factor when choosing a safety cabinet and that is why Telstar has from the beginning introduced led lighting and energy saving EC fans in the BiOptima range of cabinets.
The BiOptima series is designed and manufactured according to numerous international biosafety standards including EN12469: Class II, NSF49: Class II Type A2, JIS K 3800: Class II Type A2. The working area is classified as ISO 14644: Class 4 and GMP Annex 1: Class A.
The BiOptima Cyto series is also designed and manufactured according to the DIN 12980 norm: a Class II safety cabinet dedicated to handling cytotoxic materials.
The most important feature of a Biological Safety Cabinet is its containment capability, together with good contamination prevention and the ability to clean the cabinet easily and thoroughly. The BiOptima series is designed to offer maximum safety at all times:
Laminar flow is monitored by two speed sensors which keep a constant air flow over the whole working surface, thanks to filter clogging compensation technology.
The cabinet is fitted with independent alarm systems which emit a visual and acoustic warning in case of any deviations.
Glass sides maximize illumination in the work area, improving user comfort and provide the ideal solution when cabinets are placed side by side. The BiOptima is fitted with a full size G3 pre filter under the work surface which increases HEPA filter life and avoids possible damage to the fans due to debris entering the technical area (pipette tips, aluminum foil).
The BiOptima incorporates a comprehensive screen which enables easy and quick viewing of the safety parameters. A green light indicates safe work mode and is clearly visible at all times. Filter clogging and a real time clock are among the many information that are provided by the control panel.
The BiOptima series is designed with user in mind, to make work comfortable by avoiding fatigue and encouraging a safe working posture:
The 7° sloped front window provides the operator with a comfortable and ergonomic posture.
The front window opening mechanism provides complete and comfortable access to the working chamber, making it possible to enter large objects and accessories into the working chamber. Cleaning can also be accomplished with ease.
The control panel is tilted towards the operator to maximize visibility.
The BiOptima is extremely quiet, with a sound level as low as 58 dB.
